Description

Our house is designed and set up with a healthy nod to the classic Australian beach holiday shacks of the past.

It is a spacious, airy, light-filled property with high ceilings and full of character. We built much of it ourselves with recycled timbers and have furnished it with a selection of carefully selected vintage pieces.

The space features a large open-plan living area with a lounge, dining, and a well-appointed kitchen.

The servery window in the kitchen and a stacking sliding door in the dining area both face out to a large wrap-around deck, which includes a large dining setting and sun lounges for lazy afternoons in the sun.

Although there are undoubtedly some great restaurants on and around the island, like us, you will probably wind up wanting to entertain from the comfort of home!

The front yard is safely fenced and includes a sandpit.

A generous window corner lounge in the indoor living space, containing futon mattresses, is a perfect spot to rest and read.

All of the bedrooms are fitted with block-out blinds. The bed linen is cotton and linen throughout.

As you can see in the photos, there is a broad selection of books throughout the house as we believe good holidays involve losing yourself in a good book! If you start a book and don’t finish it, you are welcome to take it: all we ask is that you leave a donation for our chosen charities (Indigenous Literacy Foundation and Asylum Seeker Resource Centre) and write down the book you’ve selected.

Several classic board games and some children’s toys are supplied to, as is a BOSE speaker to ensure the perfect soundtrack to your stay.

A Nectre wood heater is available if the temperature drops (and some wood for your use) as well as a very effective split system. There are also double-paned windows throughout the house that will effectively buffer you from the elements.

Each room has ceiling fans and the windows allow wonderful cross-ventilation with the sea breeze.

The bathroom is a large family bathroom with a separate toilet. There is a private hot outdoor shower as well.

The backyard includes raised garden beds with herbs and some other greens you are most welcome to use.

The laundry is fitted with a front-loading machine and washing liquid is provided. There is also a dryer and original hills hoist.
